Pentecost, the spring harvest festival |
||
|
Pentecost is celebrated on the 50th day after the second day of Passover.
As a religious festival it is the anniversary of the giving of the Law
to Moses on Mount Sinai. To the farmer it was the offering of the
first fruit of the year in the temple.
And that's what we do. Here is an offering of grapefruit (the season's last rather than first crop) |

and of fish. | |
|
The celebrations are accompanied by abandoned dancing and wild clapping. | |
